Former state Sen. Gary DeCramer has died

ST. PAUL - A former state senator who served southwest Minnesota died Wednesday while on a trip to Morris.

Former state Sen. Gary DeCramer, 67, lived in the Twin Cities suburb of Mendota Heights in recent years.

When he was in the Senate, from 1983 to 1992, he lived in southwestern Minnesota. He represented District 27, which included Lincoln, Lyon, Murray, Nobles, Pipestone and Rock counties, during his career.

After leaving the Senate, DeCramer was Southwest State University interim president, then went on to the University of Minnesota, where he worked until his death.

DeCramer was a Democratic-Farmer-Laborite.
