Wind advisory today for west central Minn., gusts to 45 mph

WILLMAR -- The National Weather Service has issued a wind advisory for much of western Minnesota until 10 p.m. today.

The forecast includes strong southeast winds by late morning, with sustained winds between 25 and 30 mph and gusts to 45 mph.

The winds will create hazardous driving conditions, especially for high-profile vehicles. Unsecured lightweight objects, such as garbage cans and lawn furniture, may be moved.

The local forecast for Willmar includes a high temp of 51 and winds from 21 to 28 mph and gusts to 37 mph. The chance of precipitation is 40 percent.

Showers and thunderstorms are likely tonight, mainly after 1 p.m. The low temp will be around 45 mph, a 60 percent of precipitation and winds from 21 to 28 mph with gusts to 37 mph. Expect new rainfall amounts of less than a tenth of an inch, except for higher amounts possible in thunderstorms.
