WILLMAR -- A 48-year-old Willmar man has been identified as the driver of a vehicle that fled the scene of a motor vehicle crash around 4:45 p.m. Monday at First Street and Becker Avenue.

According to Willmar Police Capt. Jim Felt, the potential charges against the man, whose name hasn't been released, include hit-and-run - personal injury accident, reckless driving and failure to yield.

The suspect vehicle, a dark-colored Jeep, struck a 2008 Hyundai and then left the scene. The driver of the Hyundai, Lyndon Norsten, 78, and his passenger, Ruth Norsten, 79, were taken by ambulance to Rice Memorial Hospital for treatment of their injuries.

Felt thanked the many citizens who helped officers with the investigation. The department released a surveillance photo, from a nearby business, of the vehicle Tuesday afternoon. An alert citizen spotted the vehicle and provided the license number and description to police, who identified the driver, who allegedly admitted to being involved in the crash and leaving the scene.
