Detour begins Monday on Kandiyohi County Road 5

WILLMAR - Construction is expected to begin Monday on a 2 ½ mile stretch of Kandiyohi County Road 5 south of Roseland that will result in a traffic detour for the next two months.

The $2.2 million project includes grading operations and applying a gravel base this year.

The bituminous surfacing will be done in 2013, according to the Kandiyohi County Public Works Department.

The project begins at state Highway 7 and extends south nearly to the Kandiyohi-Renville County line.

Through Traffic on Kandiyohi County Road 5 will be diverted east on Renville County Road 11, north on state Highway 71 and west on state Highway 7.

Duininck Inc. of Prinsburg is the prime contractor for the project.

Construction is scheduled for 50 working days.

Motorists are reminded to slow down for their safety and the safety of the workers as construction continues.
