More storms possible throughout week in Willmar, Minn.

WILLMAR -- The unsettled weather that pushed a severe storm Sunday through west central Minnesota could bring more storms this week.

The National Weather Service in Chanhassen says there's a chance of severe weather through mid-week and storms could extend through the weekend.

The fast-moving systems are "charging up the atmosphere" and the region is "under the threat of severe weather" for the next few days, according to Tony Zaleski, a meteorologist with the National Weather Service.

Heavy rain and severe thunderstorms are possible through Wednesday morning and there's a flash flood watch in effect through Wednesday in much of central and southern Minnesota including Willmar.

Conditions could ease Thursday but steam back up for the weekend.

"The storm system we have backed up into the mid-Pacific will continue to see bouts of thunderstorms into Saturday," Zaleski said, adding that it's impossible to predict if the weather will be as damaging as the storm Sunday.

He said people should be aware of the potential for more storms and stay tuned to news sources.
