Pedestrian killed when struck
by train in Meeker County
EDEN VALLEY -- Nicholas Phillipp, 21, of Eden Valley was killed early Saturday morning when he was struck by a train as he was walking across the railroad tracks on state Highway 22 in Eden Valley.
The incident happened around 3:30 a.m. on Highway 22, north of state Highway 55.
According to the State Patrol, Phillipp was attempting to cross the tracks from the north side to the south side and was struck by a Canadian Pacific train that was going west.
He was dead at the scene, according to the State Patrol.
The driver of the train, Joseph Pearson, 31, of Hugo, and a passenger Jerome Ott, 57, of Wabasha, were not injured.
WILLMAR -- Tools and a new five-piece patio set were stolen over the weekend from the back of a truck parked behind Stacy's Nursery, at 2305 Highway 12 E.
According to the initial complaint, the Kennet patio set, which included a table with a brown and tan slate top and four brown wicker chairs, were taken from the truck sometime Saturday night or Sunday morning.
A Dewalt sawzall and a drill in a case were also stolen from the truck.
The theft was reported at 10 a.m. Sunday.
WILLMAR -- A stereo was stolen Thursday night from a vehicle in the 3500 block of Fourth Avenue Northwest. The theft was reported to Willmar police at 7:28 a.m. Saturday.
WILLMAR -- A bow was reported stolen Saturday afternoon from a garage in the 2000 block of 24th Street Southwest. The owner told Willmar police he believed the bow was stolen about a month ago at the same time a vehicle was taken.
WILLMAR -- Kenneth Thomas Bollig, 66, of Marshall, was injured Saturday when the motorcycle he was driving skidded on a curve at First Street and 28th Avenue Southeast. The incident was reported at 3 p.m.
