Fire weather watch today in western Minnesota

WILLMAR -- A fire weather watch will be in effect this afternoon and evening for western and southwestern Minnesota, including the Willmar area, after a dry cold front moved through Sunday night, leaving strong northwest winds behind it during the day today.

The National Weather Service Twin Cities office in Chanhassen says in its statement that the region will experience relative humidity values of 20 to 25 percent, coupled with northwest winds of 20 to 30 mph.

The fire weather watch is valid along and west of a line from about St. Cloud through Mankato to just west of Albert Lea. Among the area counties included are Chippewa, Kandiyohi, Lac qui Parle, Meeker, Pope, Redwood, Renville, Swift and Yellow Medicine.

A fire weather watch means critical fire weather conditions are forecast to occur.
