Dassel, Minn., man faces 16 felonies for allegedly abusing girl, making pornographic movies

Nathan Schwartz

LITCHFIELD -- A 23-year-old Dassel man made his first court appearance Monday on 16 felony charges of criminal sexual conduct, use of a minor in a pornographic work and possession of pornography for allegedly sexually abusing and making videos of a girl for 10 years.

Nathan Charles Robert Schwartz appeared in Meeker County District Court to face three first-degree and three second-degree counts of criminal sexual conduct, five counts of using a minor in a pornographic work and five counts of possession of pornography.

According to the complaint, the investigation by the Meeker County Sheriff's Office began on Sept. 5, when investigators received information that the girl, now 13, had been abused by Schwartz for years at a rural Dassel residence.

The girl said that she caught Schwartz hiding in her closet and peeping in her window about three years ago.

She also told investigators that Schwartz touched her private body parts and made her touch his private parts, plus made her dance nearly naked in front of a video camera and for photographs.

The complaint notes there are at least six know pornographic videos made by Schwartz of the girl.

The videos and photographs were recovered when investigators executed a search warrant on Schwartz's computer.

In addition to the sex and pornography charges, Schwartz was also the subject of a separate investigation for being a felon in possession of a firearm, for photos also found on the computer. He is a registered predatory offender.
