Willmar School Board meets Monday

WILLMAR — The Willmar School Board will meet at 6 p.m. Monday in the board room on the first floor of the Willmar Education and Arts Center.

The meeting will begin with the annual Truth in Taxation presentation. The board usually meets at 4:30 p.m., but this meeting will begin at 6 p.m. because of the Truth in Taxation hearing.

During the meeting, the board will certify its final local property tax levy to be paid in 2013. The local levy is to be set at $6.8 million, about $360,000 less than the 2012 levy.

The levy is added to the state and federal aid to make up the district’s annual budget of about $42 million.

The board will also consider a contract with LDMarketing Group to produce a monthly staff newsletter for the district and discuss progress on the district’s new strategic plan.

The board listens to public comments related to items on the agenda at the beginning of the meeting. Those who want to comment on issues that are not on Monday’s agenda may do so at the end of the meeting.

Board meetings are shown live on Willmar local cable access channel 18.
