Live it: Tips for DIY leatherworking in jewelry
Leather is a beautiful and easy material to work with, and incorporating leather into jewelry-making creates a fun and trendy design.
Upholstery leather is very forgiving and is what is being used in this project.
You can find upholstery leather at many craft and fabric stores, as well as the basics in leather tools and supplies.
Choose your materials and design.
For this leather strand bracelet, cut your leather in strips using a titanium fabric scissors or a rotary tool and mat.
Seven-inch strands are standard women’s wrist size; size your wrist for a perfect fit.
Lay out your leather pieces and add a hole to each end of your leather using a leather punch.
You can add other strands at this point ... chain, lace, etc.
Add o-rings to each end and a clasp.
Add any charms for a one of a kind piece.
Enjoy your new, handmade bracelet!
