Suspect arrested in motorcycle chase in central Minnesota
Douglas County sheriff's deputies arrested Brandon Lee Cada, 23, of Alexandria Wednesday as a suspect in the motorcycle pursuit that took place on Tuesday, June 6.
The motorcycle was impounded as evidence and could be forfeited, according to the sheriff's office."The tips from the public were helpful during this investigation, which remains active and ongoing," said Sergeant Ron Boyden in a news release.
According to a media release, at 11:16 a.m. June 6, a deputy attempted to stop a westbound motorcyclist for speeding. The suspect was going 79 m.p.h. in a 55 m.p.h. speed limit area on County Road 82, near County Road 17 in the Nelson area.
When the motorcyclist spotted the deputy, he accelerated and continued speeding westbound on County Road 82, passing other vehicles. The motorcyclist ignored the deputies lights and sirens and turned south onto County Road 81, then south onto Snowbird Lane. The suspect then turned north onto Pioneer Road from 50th Avenue, where he evaded two more Douglas County deputies with lights and sirens activated. He went northbound on Pioneer Road from 34th Avenue.
At that point, the pursuit was called off for safety reasons.
