Motorcyclist from Clara City injured in crash

WILLMAR — Damian Woltjer, 22, of Clara City, suffered substantial injuries Friday after his motorcycle was hit by a van, driven by Marion Clements, 88, of Willmar, according to a Willmar Police Department news release.

Woltjer was wearing a helmet. He was transported to Rice Memorial Hospital by Willmar Ambulance. Clements had minor injuries and was also transported to Rice by the ambulance service. Current conditions of the two individuals is not know.

According to the police, at about 8:59 a.m. Friday Woltjer, riding a Kawasaki motorcycle, was traveling eastbound on 19th Avenue Southwest in Willmar, when Clements, heading westbound on 19th Avenue, attempted to make a left turn onto 7th Street Southwest. The Dodge Caravan collided with Woltjer. The airbags in the van deployed.

Assisting the Willmar Police Department was the Minnesota State Patrol, Willmar Ambulance Service, the Willmar Fire Department and the Kandiyohi County Rescue Squad.
