Amon wins special school board election
WILLMAR — Mary Amon, a Willmar physician, has been elected to the Willmar School Board. Amon handily won in a special election Tuesday.
Amon was challenged by Monica Villars, an artist who recently retired from teaching in the Willmar School District.
A third candidate, Katherine McGill, was listed on the ballot, but she withdrew from the race several weeks ago. The ballots were printed before she withdrew.
Amon will fill the seat left vacant by the unexpected death of board Chairman Jared Anez in March. The term will expire at the end of 2018.
