A Sioux Falls man discovered something no one else had, and his tweet about it is going mega-viral
A stroke of pure marketing genius, humility and savvyness has been lying undiscovered and unknown on KFC's official Twitter page for an unknown length of time. Until now.
On Thursday, Oct. 19, a Sioux Falls, S.D. man, simply known as "Edge" on Twitter, composed the following tweet: ".@KFC follows 11 people. Those 11 people? 5 Spice Girls and 6 guys named Herb. 11 Herbs & Spices. I need time to process this."
.@KFC follows 11 people.
Those 11 people? 5 Spice Girls and 6 guys named Herb.
11 Herbs & Spices. I need time to process this.

The @KFC Twitter account follows Geri Horner, Melanie Brown, Emma Bunton, Melanie C and Victoria Beckham, or, all five members of the Spice Girls. It also follows Herb Scribner, Herb J. Wesson Jr., Herb Waters, Herb Dean, Herb Sendek and Herb Alpert, or, six Herbs. If you're doing the math at home that's 11 herbs and spices.
The tweet, which was sent out at 2:59 p.m. on Thursday, has racked up an incredible 255,303 retweets and 564,191 likes as of 3:45 p.m. Friday, Oct. 20.
To put that number into perspective, the 35th-most retweeted tweet of all time racked up 591,337 retweets. That was a tweet from Louis Tomlinson of the boy band One Direction, sent in October 2011.
After not hearing back from KFC, Edge tweeted a GIF saying, "Waiting for @KFC to respond like," to which @KFC recently responded, tweeting, "You said you needed time. We're just giving you space. DM us when you're ready."

The most retweeted tweet of all time, in case you were wondering, was a tweet from Carter Wilkerson on April 5, 2017, that read: "HELP ME PLEASE. A MAN NEEDS HIS NUGGS." Wendy's replied, saying Wilkerson would need 18 million retweets to win free chicken nuggets for an entire year. The tweet eventually garnered over 3.6 million retweets, making it the most retweeted tweet of all time.
