Two city workers fall on top of semi that struck their bucket truck in Litchfield

LITCHFIELD – A semi struck an extended bucket on a boom truck Tuesday afternoon in downtown Litchfield sending two city workers tumbling out of the bucket and landing on top of the semi.

The two employees, Michael David Grabow, 40, of Litchfield, and Randy Wayne Groskreutz, 54, of Hutchinson, were taken to the Meeker Memorial Hospital in Litchfield with non-life-threatening injuries.

According to the State Patrol, the accident was reported at 1:21 p.m. on Sibley Avenue at Third Street.

The employees, who were in the extended bucket of a boom truck that was parked on the street, were working on a stoplight over Sibley Avenue when the top of a southbound 1991 Mack semi trailer struck the telescoping bucket.

Grabow and Groskreutz were ejected from the bucket and landed on top of the semi trailer.

The driver of the semi, Lanny Larue, 77, of Atkinson, Nebraska, was not injured.

The Litchfield Police Department assisted at the scene of the accident.
