BEMIDJI, Minn.-- Only five cities out of 30 remain in Minnesota Monthly magazine's "Best MN Town" contest.
The contest, which started over the summer, is seeking to find the town that best "embodies the spirit of Minnesota," according to the magazine's website.
The winner of the contest will be showcased in a multi-page editorial feature and receive a media campaigned valued at more than $50,000.
In all, 30 towns and cities entered the contest—the first cut was to 10 and now to five. The contest comes to an end Thursday, Nov. 30, when the winner is announced during a Best of Minnesota Party at Lumber Exchange Event Center in Minneapolis.
The finalists are Austin, Bemidji, Owatonna, Waconia and Walker.
The finalists and ultimately the winner are selected by the magazine's editor, a panel of notable Minnesotans and online voting. The latter was held in September and October; out of the 10 cities, Owatonna was first in online voting followed by Bemidji.
