Snow diminishing in Willmar, Minn., region but travel hampered by blowing snow

WILLMAR — Snowfall is diminishing in Willmar and the region, but blowing and drifting snow remains a concern, and a winter weather advisory is in effect until 6 p.m. today.

The National Weather Service says the snowfall will be tapering off to flurries in central and southern Minnesota, but northwest winds of 15 to 25 mph with higher gusts to 30 mph will continue through sunset, resulting in areas of blowing and drifting snow.

Driving conditions are still rated as difficult in the region because of the blowing and drifting snow and the resulting icy patches, according to the Minnesota Department of Transportation’s 511 road and traffic conditions website.
