Good driving conditions return; next storm system coming Friday night

WILLMAR — Good driving conditions are now reported across southwest and most of west central Minnesota this afternoon.

The Minnesota Department of Transportation’s 511 road and traffic conditions website shows only patches of fair or difficult driving in the region.

Enjoy it while it lasts — the next storm system will impact the state Friday night into Sunday, says the National Weather Service in the Twin Cities.

Temperatures Thursday and Friday will be near normal in the 30-degree range, and the coming storm system will be much warmer, with a mix of precipitation.

Much of the area will likely see rain on Saturday, before precipitation transitions to snow as it is departing Saturday night, the Weather Service says. A cooling trend will then follow this system into the first half of next week, as temperatures return below normal once again.
