KERKHOVEN -- The Swift County Sheriff is seeking information about the theft of three vehicles in Kerkhoven and vandalism at the city's swimming pool and water tower Tuesday and Wednesday.

According to Sheriff John Holtz, two vehicles were reported stolen early Tuesday morning and were later located elsewhere in Kerkhoven. The third vehicle was reported stolen Wednesday morning and was recovered later in the morning in Willmar.

Holtz urges citizens to take the keys out of vehicles, take anything of value out of the vehicle and lock the doors. All three of the vehicles had the keys left in them.

The Sheriff's Office has also received reports from citizens that someone had rummaged through their vehicles and took change and other items. The incidents remain under investigation.

Two of the vehicles were not damaged, but the third vehicle was damaged by spray paint, Holtz said.

The first vehicle theft was reported around 5:15 a.m. Tuesday, along the 300 block of Sixth Street North. The 2000 Chevy Cavalier was located along the 300 block of Eighth Street South.

While the investigation was happening, another vehicle theft was reported, around 5:50 a.m. Tuesday. That vehicle, a 2005 Chevy Cavalier, was stolen from along the 400 block of 11th Street North. The vehicle was located a short time later.

The third motor vehicle theft was reported around 3:15 a.m. Wednesday, when a citizen reported their 1993 Ford pickup missing from along the 300 block of Sixth Street North. Deputies searched the area but did not find the vehicle.

The spray paint vandalism on the front doors at the swimming pool was reported around 7:50 a.m. Wednesday. More of the same was found at the water tower and another building located next to the tower.

The 1993 Ford was located about the same time in Willmar.

If you have any information regarding any of these incidents, please contact the Swift County Sheriff's office at 320 264-5972, 320 843-3133 or 320-289-2356.
