One injured in Willmar intersection crash
WILLMAR — One woman was transported Monday afternoon to Rice Memorial Hospital in Willmar after two vehicles collided in an uncontrolled intersection in southwest Willmar.
Jose Antonio Diaz, 70, of Willmar, was driving a 2008 Jeep Liberty driven east on Minnesota Avenue Southwest, and Habiba Hassan Aden, 20, was driving a 2003 Kia south on Sixth Street Southwest when the vehicles collided, according to a Willmar police report.
Aden was taken to Rice for non-life-threatening injuries. Diaz and passengers in both cars were uninjured.
Aden was also cited for a driver permit violation, according to Willmar Police Chief Jim Felt.
The Police Department was assisted by Willmar Ambulance Service, Willmar Fire Department and Kandiyohi County Rescue Squad.
Meeker County crash Monday night injures one
DARWIN — Icy road conditions may be to blame for a two-vehicle accident Monday night in Meeker County that sent one woman to the hospital.
The accident happened around 8:30 p.m. on U.S. Highway 12, east of Meeker County Road 24.
According to the State Patrol, Philip Gould, 55, of New London, was going west on Highway 12 when the 1998 Buick LeSabre he was driving lost control, crossed the centerline and struck a 1996 Oldsmobile LSS, driven by Barbara Erickson, 69, of Dassel.
Erickson was taken to Meeker Memorial Hospital in Litchfield with non-life-threatening injuries.
Gould was not injured.
Two injured Monday in Renville County crash
RENVILLE — Two people were injured in a two-vehicle crash Monday night in Renville County.
Weather may have been a factor in the accident, which happened around 7:05 p.m. Monday at the intersection of County Roads 21 and 11, about three miles north of Renville.
According to the Renville County Sheriff's Office, Gregory Kopel, 73, of rural Renville, was driving a 2000 Chevy Silverado north on County Road 21, failed to stop at a stop sign and collided with a 2011 GMC Acadia, driven by Nicole Hoberg, 24, of rural Renville, that was going east on County Road 11.
Hoberg and Kopel were transported to the RC Hospital & Clinics in Olivia for non-life-threatening injuries.
The Renville County Sheriff's Office was assisted by the Renville Police Department, Renville Ambulance Service and Renville Fire and Rescue.
WILLMAR — A Christmas light projector was reported stolen in the 100 block of Ella Avenue Northeast. The theft was reported Monday evening.
