July 7 story: Two killed in crash outside Hawick Saturday
HAWICK – Two people were killed late Saturday morning in a crash involving a car and several motorcycles on Highway 23 northeast of Hawick in Roseville Township.
According to a report from the Minnesota State Patrol, a Chevrolet Monte Carlo was traveling west on Highway 23 and made a left turn onto 160th Street Northeast, turning in front of three Harley Davidson motorcycles traveling east.
Two of the motorcycles, each carrying one person, hit the vehicle, and the drivers died at the scene, according to the State Patrol. A third motorcycle, carrying two people, laid down on the road to avoid the collision. The driver and passenger were transported to CentraCare Health-Paynesville Hospital with serious injuries. One of them was later airlifted to St. Cloud Hospital.
The State Patrol release did not provide names of any of the people involved in the crash. The names are to be released Sunday afternoon.
The report lists the drivers of the first two motorcycles as a 42-year-old man and a 44-year-old woman, both of St. Cloud. The driver of the third motorcycle was listed as a 61-year-old man from Sauk Rapids. His passenger was a 38-year-old woman from Sauk Rapids.
The driver of the car was a 21-year-old woman from Bricelyn, and the passenger was a 24-year-old male with no address given.
In addition to the State Patrol, Kandiyohi County Sheriff’s Office, Kandiyohi County Rescue, Paynesville Police Department, Willmar Police Department, New London Fire Department, New London Ambulance, Willmar Ambulance and Paynesville Ambulance responded to the scene.
