Power agency adds more wind power
OLIVIA — The Minnesota Municipal Power Agency, which provides power to 12 municipalities including Olivia, has added power from Black Oak Getty Wind Farm to its renewable power portfolio.
Black Oak Getty Wind Farm is located in Stearns County, and has an output of 78 megawatts. The farm has 39 wind turbines and began operation in December 2016.
This power joins the 44 megawatts Minnesota Municipal Power Agency receives from Oak Glen Wind Farm, eight megawatts from Hometown BioEnergy and renewable energy from other utilities.
The addition of Black Oak goes toward the power agency meeting the Minnesota Renewable Energy Standard, which requires 25 percent of the agency's power to come from renewable sources by 2025.
