OLIVIA — Two teens suffered minor injuries in a one-vehicle crash Tuesday evening in Crooks Township north of Renville.
The Renville County Sheriff's Office said the 2000 Volkswagen Beetle was southbound on 240th Avenue near the intersection of 850th Street when the driver apparently lost control, skidded sideways and rolled over into a field.
The 16-year-old driver and a 15-year-old passenger were reportedly able to free themselves from the vehicle before first responders arrived. Both were taken to RC Hospital and Clinics in Olivia for treatment of minor injuries, according to the Sheriff's Office. The Renville Police Department and Renville Ambulance assisted at the scene.
The driver, who is from Bird Island, and the passenger, from Renville, were not identified. They were believed to be wearing seatbelts. The Sheriff's Office said speed may have been a contributing factor.
