Sioux Falls prisoner accidentally released turns himself in

Adrian Ray Watson Submitted photo

SIOUX FALLS -- A Sioux Falls prisoner who was accidentally released on Monday because he had the same name as another inmate that was supposed to be set free has turned himself in.

Adrian Ray Watson, 28,  of Sioux Falls returned to the Minnehaha County Jail on Thursday, July 26, about 11 p.m. He was being held on $2,500 bail, but jail officials made an error and released him. He was in jail on charges of assault and robbery.

Meanwhile, the Adrian Watson that was supposed to be released, who was also from Sioux Falls, was freed on his own recognizance on Monday shortly after the error was discovered.

The release did not say if the wrong Watson will face any additional charges.
