19-year-old fatally shot in St. Paul neighborhood
ST. PAUL -- A 19-year-old man was shot and killed in a St. Paul neighborhood on Friday morning, Sept. 7, not long after parents were getting their children on school buses in the area.
Family members of Wilbert Harris Jr. identified him as the young man who was killed in the Summit-University neighborhood. Police said Friday afternoon that investigators are canvassing the area looking for witnesses and they had not made arrests in the case.
Officers were called to the shooting about 9:10 a.m. near Avon Street and Carroll Avenue. Paramedics pronounced the man dead at the scene.
Police said Friday’s homicide was the 12th of the year in St. Paul.
