Litchfield man charged with stealing underclothes
LITCHFIELD — A Litchfield man is charged with breaking into a neighbor's house and stealing a bra and underwear from her laundry basket. About two hours later, he allegedly entered the home again and returned the clothes to the laundry room.
Wayne Scott Christie, 65, is charged with one count of burglary in the second degree and a misdemeanor charge of theft.
Christie made his first appearance Tuesday in Meeker County District Court.
According to the criminal complaint, the incident was captured July 28 on a security camera located inside the woman's home.
It allegedly shows Christie, wearing a dark top and shiny shorts, entering the home shortly before noon and going into the laundry room.
Wearing the same shorts but a different shirt, the video allegedly shows Christie entering the home again about two hours later and going into the laundry room and exiting about a minute later.
The woman, who was not home at the time of the incident, reported the incident to police after reviewing the surveillance video when she returned home.
Christie's request for a public defender was denied.
Bail was set at $50,000 and he was ordered not to have contact with the woman.
His next court appearance is Nov. 6.
WILLMAR — An individual told police Tuesday morning that a man had "attacked" his car with rocks and shattered the windshield. The incident was reported at 9:30 a.m. in the 1000 block of Second Street Southeast.
NEW LONDON — Four tires and rims were reported stolen at 8 a.m. Tuesday from the 9000 block of 240th Avenue Northeast.
Lowry man injured in crash
GLENWOOD — Nathanial James Tahtinen, 34, of Lowry, was injured Tuesday near Glenwood when he tried to avoid hitting a deer while riding a motorcycle.
The incident was reported at 5 a.m. Tuesday on state Highway 55 in Pope County.
According to the State Patrol, Tahtinen was driving a 1985 Harley-Davidson motorcycle when he braked to avoid hitting a deer in the road and lost control of the motorcycle.
He was taken to the Glacial Ridge Hospital in Glenwood with non-life-threatening injuries. He was not wearing a helmet, according to the State Patrol.
The Pope County Sheriff's Office and Glenwood Police Department assisted at the scene of the accident.
