Field of 8 for 3 seats for School Board race in Willmar

WILLMAR -- Brian F. Bollig of Willmar, Dan Croonquist of Kandiyohi and Nathan R. Streed of Willmar filed to run for Willmar School Board on Tuesday, the last day for filing.

They will be joined by five other candidates in running for three open seats on the board. The general election is Nov. 2.

Other candidates are Bill Fenske of Willmar, Jill J.H. Gould of Willmar, Linda Mathiasen of Willmar, Shawn Mueske of Willmar and Don Thorpe of Kandiyohi.

Incumbent board members Brad Schmidt, Mike Carlson and Dion Warne did not file for re-election.

Filing for local municipal and school elections closed Tuesday. Prospective candidates will have until the close of business on Thursday to withdraw their candidacies if they wish.

After Thursday, the general election ballots will be set. County auditors across the state will begin to prepare ballots for the general election.

Ballots must be prepared in time to mail absentee ballots to members of the military stationed overseas and others who live a great distance away. They also need time to return the ballots by Nov. 2.

For more information about candidates who have filed is available at the Minnesota secretary of state's website: us.
