Willmar School Board to discuss kindergarten schedule today

WILLMAR -- The Willmar School Board will meet in a workshop session at 4:30 p.m. today in the board room on the first floor of the Willmar Education and Arts Center.

The agenda includes a discussion of a possible move from all-day, everyday kindergarten to another schedule. The district has had full-time kindergarten classes for several years, but the state only funds half-time kindergarten.

If the operating levy renewal on the Nov. 8 ballot fails, school officials have said that the kindergarten schedule may have to be changed.

The board will also review the district's strategic plan.

The meeting will be recorded and will be shown at Willmar local cable access channel 19 at 9 p.m. today and at noon and 9 p.m. Tuesday through Thursday.
