Discussion on homosexuality and religion tonight in Willmar, Minn.
WILLMAR -- Willmar's Interfaith Social Justice Series and Ridgewater College's PRISM group invites the public to view a documentary tonight and join a discussion on religion and homosexuality.
The free event will be begins at 6:30 p.m. in the Ridgewater College Theater in Willmar.
"For the Bible Tells Me So" is an award-winning documentary that reconciles homosexuality and Biblical scripture in the light of Biblical scholarship.
Through the experiences of five Christian American families, viewers will discover different ways that people of faith handle having a gay child or family member. The families Jacob Reitan's family of Mankato. Jacob's parents, Randi and Phil Reitan, will speak tonight after the film about their experiences with the film and their son's sexual orientation.
The Interfaith Social Justice Series was formed more than a year ago between five local churches. Members choose topics such as homelessness, immigration, economic justice, and environmental justice to explore within and across congregations.
The PRISM Club is Ridgewater College's gay-straight alliance, a student organization that focuses on issues related to gender identity and sexual orientation. It strives to bridge differences and to build a positive campus climate.
