n Deborah Mullins, 34, of Willmar, was sentenced Thursday to 30 days in jail, five years of probation and a $50 fine on a felony theft charge for not returning a rental car.

She was also ordered to pay $1,892.63 in restitution and to serve 100 hours of community service work. The jail time can be deferred if she complies with the conditions of probation.

As part of a plea agreement, five additional felony theft charges were dismissed. She received a stay of imposition on her sentence. Under the stay, her conviction will be reduced to a misdemeanor if she complies with the conditions of probation.

The charges were filed after officials at Enterprise Vehicle Leasing in Willmar reported to police on Nov. 15 that the company had leased a 2012 Nissan Altima to Mullins on Sept. 24 at the Willmar location. The lease was partially paid by an insurance company because Mullin’s vehicle had been in a crash. The Nissan was to be returned on Oct. 3.

Company officials contacted Mullins on multiple occasions and requested that she return the vehicle and pay the balance on the rental agreement, which was calculated at $1,049.05. The value of the vehicle was estimated at $13,542.05.

n Patrick Steven Lee Witthus, 28, of Stewart, pleaded guilty to a second-degree drug sale charge for selling 10 grams of methamphetamine to a CEE-VI Drug Task Force informant in May 2012.

He will be sentenced Oct. 8.

The charge was filed after May 4, 2012, when the informant purchased the meth from Witthus while parked in the Wal-Mart Supercenter parking lot in Willmar.
