Weather Service warns oppressive heat to peak in region today

WILLMAR — The National Weather Service in Chanhassen has issued an excessive heat advisory for the region today. It warns that dangerously hot conditions will persist through Tuesday.

The temperature is expected to reach 96 degrees in Willmar this afternoon. High humidity will make it feel hotter than 100 degrees, adding to the stress on people and animals.

A weak cool front will move through the region tonight but temperatures will remain in the upper 80’s and lower 90’s through the week.
