LITCHFIELD — The Meeker County Sheriff’s Office said Randy Johnson, 42, of Litchfield was injured in a motorcycle crash Saturday on U.S. Highway 12 near State Highway 24.

Johnson was driving a 1994 Kawasaki motorcycle when he lost control and put the bike down on its side. The sheriff’s office was called at 12:05 p.m., and deputies, the Minnesota State Patrol, Gold Cross Ambulance and Litchfield Fire and Rescue responded.

Johnson was transported by ambulance to the Meeker Memorial Hospital. The State Patrol is investigating the crash.

GROVE CITY — The Meeker County Sheriff's Office, Gold Cross Ambulance and Grove City Rescue responded at 5:58 p.m. Friday to an ATV rollover on County Road 23, approximately one-half mile west of 558th Avenue.

A state trooper was on routine patrol and came across the accident just moments after it had occurred. Charles Shaw, 72, of Hutchinson was riding a 2004 Arctic Cat four-wheel ATV in the south ditch when the vehicle rolled, throwing Shaw from the vehicle and injuring him.

Family members were riding another ATV in the immediate area but did not see the accident occur. Shaw was transported by ambulance to Meeker Memorial Hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

Fire calls

DASSEL — A car that appeared to have been abandoned in the east ditch along Meeker County Road 4 was destroyed by fire Saturday, the Meeker County Sheriff’s Office said.

The sheriff’s office and Dassel Fire Department found the car on fire along the 28704 block of the county road. The driver was not in the vehicle or at the scene, and no one was injured. The vehicle was registered to Luke Dotseth, 18, of Cokato. The sheriff’s office and fire department are investigating.

LOUISBURG — A preliminary investigation by the Lac qui Parle County Sheriff’s Office determined a house fire Friday morning in Louisburg was started by a child playing with matches.

The house at 202 Third Street was owned by Zachariah Cusisk, 27. Fire departments from Bellingham, Louisburg and Madison were called and extinguished the fire. The Bellingham First Responders and Madison Ambulance assisted at the scene.

Both the child and homeowner received minor burns attempting to put out the fire.

Slashed tires

SPICER — A Minnetonka reported Sunday that three tires were slashed on his 2013 Chrysler van and possible substances were placed in the fuel tank because the gas cap was open. The incident occurred in the 15000 block of 49th Avenue Northeast, according to the report to the Kandiyohi County Sheriff’s Office.


SPICER — A Spicer man reported Saturday to the Kandiyohi County Sheriff’s Office that his wallet was stolen from his car while the car was parked at Zorbaz.

WILLMAR — Willmar Police cited a 42-year-old Willmar woman for shoplifting at Cash Wise Foods. The incident was reported Friday afternoon.
