Broadband project teeters on brink; Kandiyohi County officials still hopeful

Property damage

WILLMAR — Tires were reported slashed on a vehicle parked in the 3100 block of Seventh Avenue Northwest. The damage was reported at 5:05 p.m. Friday.


WILLMAR — A 24-year-old Willmar man was arrested on a warrant at 11 p.m. Friday at the Caribbean Club on Highway 71 Northeast after authorities received an anonymous tip that he was dancing at the club.


WILLMAR — A checkbook, iPod Touch and a Daisy BB pistol were reported stolen from a vehicle in the 700 block of Park Avenue Northwest. The theft was reported at 12:19 p.m. Saturday.

ATWATER — The theft of $700 to $800 in scrap stainless steel and copper was reported stolen at 12:32 p.m. Saturday in the 4300 block of 195th Street Southeast.

SPICER — Halvorson Co., 138 Lake Ave. N., reported that a woman in a red truck had taken a stainless steel General Electric refrigerator from the loading dock without permission. The theft was reported at 10:17 a.m. Saturday.

Injured hunters

Two hunters reported injuries over the weekend.

Rice Memorial Hospital Emergency Room reported a bullet wound at 5:04 a.m. Saturday. When authorities responded, a 52-year-old Willmar man said that his pistol had gone off accidentally when he was getting ready to go hunting.

A 53-year-old Willmar man reportedly fell about 10 feet out of a tree stand near New London and landed on his back. The fall was reported at 6:30 a.m. Saturday. He was transported by Willmar Ambulance.

Car fire

WILLMAR — The Willmar Fire Department was called to a car fire at 4:21 p.m. Friday in the Wal-Mart parking lot on 19th Avenue Southeast.

Driving arrest

GROVE CITY — A 22-year-old rural Grove City man was arrested Sunday morning on charges of fourth-degree driving while intoxicated and criminal vehicle operation.

Meeker Memorial Hospital in Litchfield reported to the Meeker County Sheriff’s Office that a woman had been brought to the hospital after a domestic dispute in which she was run over by a vehicle.

The woman was a 25-year-old rural Grove City woman. According to a news release from the sheriff’s office, the people were in a verbal argument when the woman got out of the vehicle and lost her balance. She allegedly fell while the vehicle was backing up and was run over by the front tire.

The man was arrested and booked into the Meeker County Jail.
