Broadband project teeters on brink; Kandiyohi County officials still hopeful

SUNBURG — The Kandiyohi County Sheriff’s Office, Sunburg Ambulance and Lakes Area First Responders responded to a report of a 49-year-old Sunburg man being stung by a bee. According to the report, the man had also hit his head and was not fully conscious. The incident was reported at 5:40 p.m. Monday along the 11700 block of 173rd Avenue Northwest.


RAYMOND — The Raymond Ambulance and Raymond Fire Department responded to a report of black smoke coming from the electrical room of a feed dealer business on the 7400 block of Highway 23 Southwest.

The report said that sparks were seen with the smoke. The report also said that there were believed to be live wires and that the transformer was beeping and buzzing.

The Raymond Ambulance did not transport anyone for medical attention.

The incident was reported at 8:15 p.m. Monday.


WILLMAR — A theft of cigarettes was reported around 7 p.m. Monday from a convenience store on the 1300 block of Fifth Street Southeast.

WILLMAR — Adult and juvenile shoplifters are in custody after a theft was reported Monday evening on the 700 block of 19th Avenue Southeast.

WILLMAR — A man reported $150 in cash stolen from his room at a hotel on the 2100 block of Highway 12 East. The incident was reported around 8:20 p.m. Monday.

BELGRADE — A 2013 Chevy Malibu was reported stolen around 5:30 a.m. Tuesday on the 14000 block of 293rd Avenue Northeast. The vehicle was unlocked and the keys were inside.

The vehicle was later located in Richfield and towed to a business in Bloomington. The owner of the car was contacted.

Criminal damage to property

WILLMAR — A Chevy Trailblazer was egged around 11 p.m. Monday while the owner was in a business on the 700 block of 19th Avenue Southeast.

According to the report, the owner did not believe the act was intentional or directed toward her. Egg splatter and large amounts of eggshells were found on the pavement around the vehicle.

WILLMAR — A man reported damage to the siding of his home on the 800 block of Mary Avenue Southeast. According to the report, a neighbor’s children had been shooting Airsoft guns and had missed their target, damaging the siding of the house.

The neighbor agreed to pay for the damaged siding.

The incident was reported around 9:30 a.m. Tuesday.


PENNOCK — A man reported that someone had been using his bank debit card. The incident was reported around 1:15 p.m. Tuesday on the 14400 block of 105th Avenue Northwest.
