District Court

Kandiyohi County

- Benito Sanchez, 23, of Willmar, was sentenced Tuesday to 18 months in prison on a felony charge of knowingly violating the requirements for predatory offenders.

He was also ordered to pay a $500 fine and was given credit for 45 days already served.

The charge was filed after the county probation officer assigned to monitor Sanchez reported to Willmar Police on March 14 that the address listed by Sanchez had been vacated 10 days prior. The detective assigned to the case also found that Sanchez was no longer working at the employer he reported to authorities and his last known phone number had been disconnected.

- A felony charge of domestic assault by strangulation and a misdemeanor charge of domestic assault against Dustin Ray Kimball, 34, of Kerkhoven, were dismissed Sept. 30.

According to the dismissal filed by the county attorney’s office, the case was dismissed because the woman who reported the assault recanted the information she gave investigators.

The charges were filed after June 5, when Willmar police were called around 11 p.m. to a residence in the southwest quadrant on an assault. The woman reported that Kimball had assaulted her and Kimball told officers they had only argued and he had not laid a hand on the woman.
