Willmar’s turbines could be turning in about a week

WILLMAR — Willmar’s wind turbines could be turning again in about a week.

DeWind, the maker of the turbines, said two new 15-kilovolt breakers were scheduled to arrive by Friday, according to an announcement from Wes Hompe, Willmar Municipal Utilities general manager.

They are to be placed in each turbine’s tower.

A DeWind engineer is scheduled to arrive from Germany late Monday and is expected to begin the inspection and installation process of the breakers on Tuesday.

There will be integration and commissioning issues to address with the new breakers, so installation will take several days. The turbines are expected to be in normal operation by the end of next week.
