Water/ice rescue

SPICER — A 74-year-old Spicer man was rescued from Green Lake Sunday after the All-Terrain Vehicle he was driving plunged through the ice.

According to the Kandiyohi County Sheriff’s Department, officers received a call at 6:47 p.m. that an individual was in the water after the ATV he was driving had gone through the ice on Green Lake by the Old Mill Inn.

The unidentified man, who was alone at the time of the incident, was rescued from the cold water and transported to Rice Memorial Hospital in Willmar where he was treated.

The accident is being investigated by the Kandiyohi County Sheriff’s Office.

The Sheriff’s Office was assisted by New London Fire Department, Spicer First Responders, Spicer Fire Department, New London Ambulance, the Minnesota State Patrol and Kandiyohi County Rescue Squad.


BELGRADE — Three people were taken to Melrose Hospital after a one-vehicle rollover crash reported around 2:40 a.m. Sunday northeast of Belgrade.

According to the Stearns County Sheriff’s office, a motorist called and reported there was a vehicle in the ditch along County Road 12 near Merlin Road in Spring Hill Township.

The vehicle had rolled onto its roof and the occupants were trapped inside and were yelling for help. The Melrose fire and ambulance departments, and the St. Martin Fire Department, responded to extract the occupants, Desiree Ruprecht, 19, of Cold Spring, Lindsay Spanier, 20, of Sartell, and Trevor Spanier, 21, of Paynesville.

All three were taken by ambulance to Melrose Hospital and one person was later airlifted to St. Cloud Hospital.

The crash remains under investigation.


SPICER — A 37-year-old was arrested for disorderly conduct around 1:30 a.m. Sunday on the 150 block of Lake Avenue South.

Property damage

SPICER — A vehicle with damage in multiple areas was found in a parking lot along the 150 block of Lake Avenue South. The incident was reported around 5:10 a.m. Monday. The vehicle had possibly been parked in the lot overnight.


WILLMAR — A theft of a CD deck unit was reported by a retail business on the 2300 block of First Street South around 8 p.m. Sunday.


WILLMAR — Two people were issued trespass notices, and one of them was cited for theft, along the 700 block of 19th Avenue Southeast around 8:30 p.m. Sunday.


WILLMAR — A fox was spotted in the area of the 400 block of 11th Street Southwest around 11:40 p.m. Sunday. According to the report, the animal had left the area shortly before the complainant called. An officer had seen the fox in the area recently and advised that it looked healthy.
