MORRIS — Stevens Community Medical Center has announced it will close its clinic in New London at the end of 2014.

Officials announced the decision this month, saying it followed several months of financial analysis of the overhead costs of maintaining the site in New London.

The Stevens Community Medical Center Specialty Clinic in New London provides allergy, asthma, immunology and dermatology care five days a week. It is staffed by three outreach physicians who also provide care at other Stevens Community Medical Center sites.

Closing the clinic “has been a very difficult decision, but is in the best interest of SCMC,” officials said in a statement.

One of the doctors is retiring at the end of 2014 and the other two will continue their practice in Morris and at other outreach sites.

The clinic building, on Minnesota Highway 23, will go up for sale once the site is closed, according to Stevens Community Medical Center.
