Warm the Children campaign exceeds $40K goal

WILLMAR — The 2013 Warm the Children campaign has topped its goal of $40,000.

A total of 528 donations have been received during the 2013 campaign. To date, donations total $41,802.

All donations, 100 percent, go to help the children. The program is administered through the West Central Tribune, in partnership with Main Street Willmar, with assistance from area social service agencies and schools making referrals. The families are then taken shopping in order to purchase warm winter clothing for the children. Each child is allowed an estimated $80 in purchases.

Last year, the Warm the Children campaign took in $37,885, falling just short of its goal of $40,000. The donations received helped to clothe 458 children throughout the area. Now in its 20th year, the Warm the Children campaign has helped more than 7,370 children from more than 2,695 families over the past 19 years.
