Predatory offender not moving to Renville, notification meeting now for general information

RENVILLE — The Renville Police Department was notified Monday that Jeffrey Joseph Lingl, a Level 3 predatory offender, will not be moving to the City of Renville as previously planned. Lingl will remain at his current address in the City of Olivia.

According to Renville Police Chief Ben Dehmlow, the community notification meeting on Lingl has been cancelled. Instead, the Renville Police Department will host a general information meeting at 6 p.m. Thursday at the city’s community center to give a brief overview of predatory offender registration laws with an opportunity to ask questions. The past week has shown that there are many misconceptions out there about the law that the police department hopes to clear up, Dehmlow said.

- Jennifer Michelle Johnston, 25, of Willmar, made her first appearance Monday on a felony charge of third-degree assault.

Unconditional bail was set at $10,000. Her next appearance is Feb. 27.

The woman was taken to Rice Memorial Hospital, where no stitches were required on her hand. She did receive a tetanus shot. She also had bruises and swelling around her eye and cuts on her hands and face.
