Wind advisory this afternoon, gusts to 45 mph

WILLMAR — Hold onto your hat, strong winds are expected this afternoon in west central Minnesota.

The National Weather Service has issued a wind advisory from 1 to 7 p.m. tonight along and west of a line from Alexandria to Willmar to New Ulm and Blue Earth.

Sustained wind speeds are expected to be between 25 to 35 mph with gusts to 45 mph.

The wind conditions will make driving difficult, especially for high-profile vehicles.

The local forecast for Willmar calls for a chance of rain and sleet before 10 a.m. and then a slight chance of rain. The high temp is expected around 40 with winds from 20 to 30 with gusts to 40 mph.

It will be cold and blustery tonight, with a low around 10 degrees and winds continuing, with gusts to 35 mph.

Saturday’s high temp is expected to be 21 degrees with north northwest winds around 15 mph.
