Weather Service issues advisory as four inches of snow on way

WILLMAR — As much as four inches of snow could blanket the Willmar area by nightfall, according to a weather advisory issued by the National Weather Service in Chanhassen for today.

The Weather Service advises that a light rain this morning will turn to snow sometime after noon in the Willmar area. The greatest snowfall amounts are expected in an area running from Montevideo and Olivia northeast to Willmar and Litchfield to St. Cloud and Mora.

Snowfall totals of four inches are expected in this area before the snow tapers off in the evening hours. The snow could fall as fast as one inch per hour from 2 to 4 p.m.

Motorists are warned that heavy snow fall and gusting winds will reduce visibility and could create icy road surfaces.
