Willmar City Council to meet Monday

WILLMAR — The Willmar City Council will meet at 7 p.m. Monday in the chambers at the Municipal Utilities Building, 700 Litchfield Ave. S.W.

The council will hold a public hearing at 7:03 p.m. on an ordinance to sell city-owned property to Jennie-O Turkey Store as required by the City Charter to transfer the land to the company for a proposed corporate office expansion.

The purchase agreement and right of first refusal indicate that the two phases of the proposed project, which includes possible plant expansion, calls for purchase prices of $238,072 for phase I and $1,435,852 for phase II.

These amounts are to be written down as provided in the city’s industrial land write-down policy, said Bruce Peterson, planning and development services director.

Also, the council will hold a public hearing on the 2014 street and other improvements.

The council will take comments from the public during the open forum.

In other business, the council will receive reports from the Labor Relations Committee, the Community Development Committee, Finance Committee, and Public Works/Safety Committee.
