Willmar School Board meets Monday
WILLMAR -- The Willmar School Board will meet at 4:30 p.m. Monday in the board room on the first floor of the Willmar Education and Arts Center, 611 Fifth St. S.W.
The board will listen to public comments related to items on the agenda at the beginning of the meeting. Those who want to comment on issues that are not on Monday's agenda may do so at the end of the meeting.
The board is scheduled to discuss a package of proposed budget reductions. The board plans to cut $2.5 million from the 2009-2010 school year budget. It's a response to rising costs and to an anticipated freeze in state funding.
The proposals include the closing of two buildings and the realignment of grades in all the remaining schools except the Senior High.
Also on the list of proposed cuts are changes in the caseloads for special education teachers and increased activity and athletic fees.
