Willmar fire chief's appointment renewed
Gov. Tim Pawlenty announced today that Willmar Fire Department chief Marvin Calvin will be appointed to another four year term on the Board of Firefighter Training and Education. Calvin has chaired the board since 2005. His new term will expire Jan. 7, 2013.
The 15 members of the board -- 14 of which are appointed by the governor -- oversee fire service training in Minnesota, setting required qualifications for instructors as well as stan-dards for educational programs.
Calvin has worked in various capacities in firefighting for more than 30 years, working as a firefighter, paramedic, and, more recently, as fire chief and fire marshal of the Willmar Fire Department.
