This is the records summary for July 7. Stabbing WILLMAR — A 44-year-old Willmar man was transported to Rice Hospital Saturday evening after a stabbing in downtown Willmar.
Willmar Police were called to the 400 block of Benson Avenue Southwest at 8:24 p.m. Saturday on a report of a man on the sidewalk who had been stabbed.
Officers arrived to find a man with multiple stab wounds on the sidewalk, according to Sgt. Mike Markkanen. Witnesses told them that a suspect might be in an apartment in the area.
Officers from the Willmar Police Department and the Kandiyohi County Sheriff’s Office searched the apartment, but the suspect had fled already.
As of early Sunday evening, authorities were still looking for the suspect. “We don’t believe there’s a threat to the general public,” Markkanen said. The investigation is ongoing.
No information was available about the man’s condition or the extent of his injuries.
Crashes MILAN — The Minnesota State Patrol has released the identification of a driver injured in a one-vehicle rollover crash Friday morning.
Raphael Marson, 27, of Milan was seriously injured in the crash, according to the State Patrol report. He was transported to North Memorial Medical Center in Robbinsdale.
Marson’s 2004 Chevrolet Impala was southbound on Highway 59 when the driver apparently went onto the shoulder, over corrected, lost control, entered the ditch and rolled, according to the report. The state patrol said Marson was not wearing a seat belt.
ATWATER — Two people were injured Saturday afternoon in a two-vehicle crash in Atwater.
Kamal H. Ahmen, 27, of Willmar, and Kama H. Ahmed, 23, of Willmar, were taken to Rice Hospital with non-life threatening injuries, according to the report from the Minnesota State Patrol. The report said both were wearing their seat belts, and their air bags deployed.
The driver of the other vehicle, Lloyd G. Swenson, 72, of Atwater, was uninjured. He was wearing a seat belt.
According to the report, the 2010 Toyota Corolla driven by Ahmen was eastbound on Highway 12, and the 2013 Ford van driven by Swenson was traveling southbound on County Road 2 and failed to yield. The vehicles crashed at the intersection.
The Kandiyohi County Sheriff’s office assisted the State Patrol at the scene.
Arrests SPICER — A 34-year-old man was arrested Friday night on two counts of third-degree driving under the influence at the intersection of Highway 23 and 71st Street Northeast near Elkhorn Lake.
