District Court

Kandiyohi County

Scott Allen McMaster, 51, of Mesquite, Nev., was sentenced to 18 months in prison Wednesday for knowingly violating the registration requirements for a predatory offender.

He had pleaded guilty to the charge in June.

McMaster was given credit for more than two years of time already served in custody and was ordered to provide a DNA sample, comply with predatory offender registration requirements and to pay a fine and court fees totaling $140.

According to the complaint, the case dates back to 2009, when the Willmar Police Department received information from the state Bureau of Criminal Apprehension that McMaster was a predatory offender from Arizona who had been tracked to Willmar.

The investigation revealed that McMaster was staying at a Willmar apartment and had a driver’s license and vehicle information sent to that address. He had been convicted in Maricopa County, Ariz., of attempted child molestation and therefore was required to register.
