Hitchhiker faints on edge of road

WILLMAR –– A hitchhiker who is traveling from Pennsylvania to the state of Washington fainted from the lack of food and water and was found Friday night lying on the edge of U.S. Highway 71 near Eagle Lake. The initial call to police, which was made at about 10 p.m. said the man’s feet were on the edge of the highway. He told authorities he had become dehydrated from the lack of food and water for three days. He had sought a voucher to get a hotel room, but there was no room available. Willmar Police gave him some food and a blanket and he was allowed to spend the night at Robbins Island

Watch out for cop impersonator

GRANITE FALLS –– The Yellow Medicine County Sheriff’s Office is warning people that an individual has been impersonating a police officer and has stopped, or tried to stop, vehicles.

Authorities have fielded several reports and have identified the vehicle and driver, but are looking for similar possible incidents that did not get reported.

The vehicle is a ted Ford Explorer with multiple blue LED lights to the front and rear of the vehicle.

WILLMAR –– A 25-year old man was arrested early Sunday morning on a charge of fifth degree assault for throwing a key fob at his wife. The incident happened in the 700 block of 15th Street Southwest.


WILLMAR –– The rear tires of a vehicle were slashed in the 500 block of Lakeland Drive Southeast. The incident was reported at 4:45 p.m. on Saturday.
