MAYNARD — A broadside accident in Maynard sent three women to the Granite Falls emergency room Thursday night.

According to the Minnesota State Patrol, Loretta Raddatz, 16, of Wood Lake, was driving southbound on Chippewa County Road 4 from Maynard when she failed to stop at the stop sign at the intersection of County Road 4 and state Highway 23. She was hit broadside by a vehicle driven by Tina Hirst, 24, of Canby.

Raddatz and Hirst were transported to Granite Falls Hospital, along with Amber Balfany, 16, of Granite Falls, who was a passenger in Raddatz’s vehicle.

The second passenger in Raddatz’s vehicle, Caleb Christenson, 19, was uninjured, the Patrol said. His address was not given.

All four people were wearing seatbelts, and alcohol was not a factor, the Patrol said.

LAKE LILLIAN — A crash reported to the Kandiyohi County Sheriff’s Office on Thursday afternoon in Lake Lillian sent two semis into the ditch along the intersection of Kandiyohi County Road 77 and Kandiyohi County Road 2.

According to the initial report, the driver of the first semi was westbound and crossing from County Road 77 onto County Road 2. The second semi driver was driving southbound on County Road 2, and hit the first semi broadside.

The semi drivers suffered minor injuries but were not identified in the initial report.


NEW LONDON — A theft of $300 was reported Thursday afternoon to the Kandiyohi County Sheriff’s Office from an area on 1st Avenue Northwest in New London.

The money was suspected to have been stolen between July 31 and August 4.
