Willmar Marching Band to be front and center at parades

The Willmar High School Marching Band will lead off the Willmar Fests Kiddie Parade at 6 p.m. Thursday and the Willmar Fests Grande Day Parade at 10:30 a.m. Saturday.

The band competed in three parades last week.

They took second place at the Paynesville Town and Country Days Parade on Wednesday.

Litchfield was first with 80.3, Willmar was second with 76.5 followed by Albany with 60.2 and Foley with 57.1.

At the Buffalo Days Parade on Saturday, Willmar was first in Class AA and won outstanding drumline.

The grand champion was St. Anthony Village/Spring Lake Park Patriots with a 79.1.

Following Willmar's 78.3 in Class AA was Champlin Park with 68.4 and Blaine with 57.9.

In Class A Maple Lake was first with 58.9, St. Michael Albertville second with 58.5 and Hutchinson was third with 55.4.

The band closed its competitive season at the Hutchinson Grande Day Parade on Sunday.

In Class AA, Park Center was first with 82.2, Waconia second with 80.8 and Willmar third with 77.3.

Litchfield took first in Class A with 78.5 followed by Maple Lake with 65.1 and Dassel-Cokato with 64.6.
